Images around Devon & Dorset

Most of the images in this section were taken on Holidays and Day trips, my personal favourite locations are Brixham Harbour, Charmouth and West Bay.

Brixham Harbour has much to offer the visitor with numerous Gift & Food outlets to artists gallery’s and the Golden Hind Museum Ship will certainly keep the children happy. But most importantly it’s a working harbour and deep-sea fishing port, with over 500 craft moored in the outer marina. It’s also home to Torbay’s Life Boat Station, built in 1866 and now the busiest on the Devon & Dorset’s coast.

Charmouth a charming unspoilt seaside village set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Take a clifftop walk, relax on the beach or if you wish to further your knowledge of the Jurassic Coast, why not visit Charmouths Heritage Centre, admission free and there’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained. My pictures of Charmouth are slightly dated but the magnificent views are unchanged.

West Bay an early 19th century harbour flanked by towering cliffs & sandy beaches. The cliff walks offer spectacular views, on a clear day you can see Portland Bill Lighthouse. The Harbour is mostly used by small fishing boats & pleasure craft. West Bay is also a popular filming location, the BBC’s Harbour Lights and ITV’s Broadchurch dramas were filmed around the Harbour.
